Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteering is a rewarding activity! The Seaport is blessed with a wonderful group of volunteers who bring to the collective table a wealth of generosity, enthusiasm, and skills. You can see our volunteers welcoming guests, cataloguing artifacts, working with kids in our toy build–a–boat area, pitching in to help plan a special event or create a new exhibit. Their support is invaluable.
Our volunteers tell us that volunteering at the Seaport is great fun. Here are some reasons why...
"I just love seeing the children's faces when they show me their finished boats." – Shirley Milatz
"This is my favorite place to volunteer. It gives me satisfaction, seeing an historical wooden boat come to life" – Dennis Barstow, restoring a 1960's era Poulsbo Boat
"I enjoy the opportunity to talk with people who have a passion for Tacoma and its maritime heritage. I especially enjoy seeing kids visit the Museum!" – Bob Tschida
"I come for the relaxation and to be around nice people. If I can help restore a boat while I'm here, it's even better." – Richard Sims
"It is a grand thing to be associated with a Museum that is in a historical building full of treasures from Tacoma's nautical past!" – John Shaw
