Pacific salmon go through a life cycle that begins with an egg. The eggs in our coho tanks at the seaport support our Salmon in the Classroom program, which is at 29 schools around Tacoma in 2023-2024. Each school has their own salmon tank, where they raise chum salmon starting in January for release into Swan Creek in late March. Here at the Seaport we raise both coho and chum salmon for release. We use our tanks for education and teacher trainings. Come by and see the salmon in person at the Seaport, Thursday-Sunday 10am-4pm.
