Volunteer at the Seaport!

Join our Education Team today!

Our Education programs serve thousands of students every year, and this year, they can't happen without a team of volunteers dedicated to sharing Tacoma's maritime history and environment with its students.

Duties include:

  • Helping teach during science field trips
  • Assisting with Education events in the museum
  • Promoting the Seaport at community events

We have two primary programs that we need help putting together for our students!

Salmon in the Classroom

Salmon in the Classroom brings a salmon tank to almost every elementary school in the Tacoma School District, plus Chief Leschi schools. Help includes taking care of tanks in schools, teaching lessons, and helping out at field trips for the schools in March.

7th Grade Program

Our 7th grade program brings every student in the grade from Tacoma Schools to the museum for a day of hands-on learning! Programs are 10am-1pm on Thursdays during the school year, with occasional Fridays. Help includes monitoring students during their activities, teaching students how to use equipment, and setting up/taking down supplies.

No experience is requried to volunteer; all positions include training! To volunteer with us, please reach out to education@fosswaterwayseaport.org, or fill out our interest form today!
