Museum Programs

Museum field trips at the Foss Waterway Seaport offer interactive, hands-on, grade-level appropriate experiences that support teachers’ in-class objectives – and they are just plain fun!We introduce students to Tacoma’s first port, the impact that urbanization has had on Tacoma, Commencement Bay, and the creatures that call the water their home.  Our aim is for students to develop an understanding of their environment and the modern issues faced by Puget Sound.

Programs Offered:

Full programs: Three to four hour programs for classes of 15 to 30 students.  Cost is $5.00 per student. No charge for teachers (2 maximum) and one adult chaperone per activity group (4 maximum). We require one chaperone per group.  Chaperones must be fully engaged with their group. Additional adults will be charged a $5.00 admission fee.

Mini programs: One to two hour programs for groups of up to 14 students.  Cost is $5.00 per student or $20.00 (whichever is greater).  No charge for up to 3 adult chaperones. We require one chaperone per group.  Chaperones must be is ready to fully engaged with their group. Additional adults will be charged a $5.00 admission fee.

Age Range: Preschool-12th grade

The number of activities offered during a field trip is tailored to the size of the class, the amount of time allotted for the visit, and staff availability.

Our program topics are presented in a manner that will engage a specific age or grade level.
